The Gents of Essex Cricket Club

Founded 1907

The Gentlemen of Essex Cricket Club is over 100 years old, we have approximately 250 playing and non-playing members and play up to 20 fixtures a year against local cricket playing schools, local cricket clubs and similar traditional clubs like the Gents of Essex.

Traditional Cricket

As cricket has changed throughout the 100 years or so the Gents of Essex has remained steadfast by still playing “Traditional Cricket” played in the spirit of the game. We still play in whites, usually an 11.30am start, bat till you declare or all out, finish 7.00 - 7.30pm. Lunch has been known to last slightly longer than the usual 40 minutes!

Membership

Membership of the Club is by invitation of the committee only and is restricted to those born or permanently resident in the County of Essex.

Opposition

Matches are played against local cricket playing schools, local cricket clubs and similar traditional clubs like the Gents of Essex. If you are a club and interested in playing us please contact our Fixture Secretary.
